What Is the Public Alpha?
For members of the Spellcasters Society, this Alpha will feel familiar. It's the return of our classic SMP server - only now it's open to the public and with our new magic system, ready and waiting for you.
This Alpha release is intentionally barebones: no sprawling RPG content yet, and no magic progression - just basic magic Spellcasting functionality and classic Minecraft Survival. We're keeping things simple so we can focus on polishing and balancing the Spells and magic system as well as building out our SMP features to ensure that side of the gameplay is strong.

We’ve made it easy to jump into magic from the moment you log in. There’s no locked progression - you won’t need to level up or complete Assignments just yet. Instead, visit our AFK Rewards Study Hall, where time spent online earns you Magic Tokens. Exchange these tokens with the different Magic Professors to unlock Spells and Wands, and start experimenting with Spells right away.
We're counting on your feedback to help refine the system.
We know many of you were expecting the full RPG experience Spellbrook has been teasing and trust us—we’re just as eager to share it. Good things take time, and we believe the best way to develop Spellbrook is alongside its community and not behind closed doors.
This Alpha phase lets us release content in waves, test it in real-time, and polish every gameplay feature with real player input.
Over the coming weeks, expect frequent updates to the Alpha server as we:
- Regularly add new SMP gameplay features
- Implement new Spells every week
- Test and balance existing features and the SMP/magic experience
- Share our progress as we develop the RPG aspect of Spellbrook
And behind the scenes? The RPG expansion is deeper in development than you might think. Lore, monsters, PvP, boss fights, quests, and more are coming - sooner than you'd expect.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I get Spells and new Wands?
A: Simply AFK or relax in the Study Hall at the Academy - you earn either a Magic Token or Furniture Token at random every 10 minutes. Magic Tokens can be exchanged for Spells and Wands via the Magic Professors in the different homerooms of the Academy.
Q: How do I cast Spells and edit my Wands?
A: To cast Spells in Spellbrook, follow these steps:
- Hold a Wand, then Shift + Right-Click to open the Wand Editor menu.
This is where you'll manage your Spell slots and assign Spells. - In the menu, you’ll see several click-combo slots (e.g., LLR, RRL, etc.).
- Click on a slot to unlock it. You can only have a few active at once, so choose wisely.
- Click again to lock a slot and free up space to unlock another.
- Drag a Spell Scroll from your inventory into an unlocked slot.
- Each Spell Scroll contains a different Spell. Once equipped, it links to the combo you chose.
- Close the menu and cast your Spell by performing the matching mouse click combo (e.g., Left-Left-Right) while holding your Wand.
• If done correctly, the Spell will activate instantly!
Q: How do I get my Patreon / Spellcasters Society / Early Access items?
A: We will be sharing more about this on our Discord in the coming weeks.
Q: What is happening to the Patreon?
A: We took a bit of a hiatus to focus on the RPG and getting Spellbrook back on track and we appreciate everyone's support during that time. We paused subscriptions while we weren't posting but we have some posts prepared for the coming weeks so now is a great time to re-subscribe and join us on our behind-the-scenes journey.
Q: Will the current Survival world be reset?
A: No. We'll likely just be opening more in the future, but this world is here to stay!
Q: How can players unlock more perks?
More player perks such as increased set home capacity, player warps, chest shops and more SMP features are on the way. Free player progression ranks will be available through unreleased magic-related progression which will be coming in a future RPG expansion. Otherwise, let us know what you need and we'll work to make it happen.
Q: How can players get more claim blocks?
A: You get 500 Claim Blocks per every active hour of playtime.
